REMBRANDTS GOLD # 1
Masterly – The Dutch in Milano
Palazzo Francesco Turati
Via Meravigli 7
Besides his autonomous work and collaborative projects Wilfred Kalf designs and makes work for government and public institutions. Trees that are felled to make way for construction at these locations form the basis for new work. Ranging from furniture to works of art.
Rembrandts Gold # 1
Especially for Masterly – the Dutch in Milano, Nicole Uniquole introduced the remarkable furniture maker Wilfred Kalf to H.R.H. Princess Margarita de Bourbon de Parme. They will be presenting a cabinet inspired by the spice cabinets of the Golden Age as seen at the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum.
Based on bold graphic patterns drawn from nature. Timber from a local walnut tree, spices, particularly pepper (black gold) and marquetry. The pattern has been engraved in brass, a technique that was also popular with Rembrandt in the Golden Age.
